Published scientific works have a purity of logic but are missing the story that lies behind every discovery. I chose blogging as an outlet for this tension, and because I believe that our discoveries have little value if the public does not understand them. If you want to learn about the latest discoveries in everyday language, about the stories behind them, and how they impact your day to day life, I invite you to join me on this journey. Who knows? You may end up sharing some of my madness.

I want dinner table small talk to be filled up with little amazing things someone learned on the internet that day. I want people to start taking 10 minutes to read and understand something that can spark an hour long discussion in their homes, their coffee houses, their bars, at their work place water coolers. I want scientists to realize that the public is a huge asset they aren’t using – in fact, it’s one that they’re not only neglecting but also avoiding. And I want that to stop.

I'm a chemist who loves to explore the world through science. I've been volunteering in science education programs for nearly twenty years, and I've collected many interesting stories about science in our everyday lives. I've always wanted to share my knowledge with others, particularly science teachers, so others can see how cool science is.
